What to be wary of:
- tactics involving raising funds by operating under a company name that appears almost identical to real but different successful companies that have been or are in the oil and gas industry
- familiar sounding names with one word or letter changed
- suspicious affiliations that make no sense
- information about the investment opportunity is difficult to find
- requests that are unsolicited, often made over the phone or email
- pressure to make the investment right away because you may lose out on the opportunity
