New Employees & Students
At the ASC, we care about making the transition as smooth as possible for new employees via our ‘on-boarding’ process. The program introduces new employees to the ASC, their department, and their role while integrating them into our culture, processes and procedures.
We view on-boarding as a longer-term process that begins before an employee’s start date and continues for at least six months thereafter. The new employee receives resources and is connected with on-boarding buddy (to help them become familiar with the ASC, our workplace culture and their manager’s expectations.
New Graduates & Students
At the ASC, there are opportunities for students and new graduates to gain relevant experience while continuing to grow in a supportive work environment. We believe that this combination helps you reach your full potential as you gain skills, apply knowledge, collaborate on projects and learn from experienced professionals.
In 2011, we became a designated training office for the Professional Education Program (“PEP”). This training program enables students who are pursuing their Chartered Accountant (CA) designation* to work in three ASC divisions (Corporate Finance, Financial Services and either Enforcement or the Office of the Chief Accountant) on a rotational basis for 30 months.
“It has been a pleasure working with and learning from a diverse group of professionals at ASC. I have also appreciated the flexibility of the program to accommodate projects and assignments that are of interest to me. I look forward to building on my experience and knowledge gained thus far.” Ankit Kapoor, CA Articling Student, 2013 - 2014
Occasionally, project-based work for students is offered during the summer. This provides a great opportunity to gain work experience in a professional environment and build on their skills to prepare for future careers.
* The CA designation will become CPA once legislation is passed in Alberta.
