This is just one of the many interesting facts you can find in the ASC’s latest edition of “The Alberta Capital Market: A Comparative Overview”. The overview highlights the significance of Alberta’s unique and distinct capital market in Canada.
A few other interesting facts to note:
- Alberta-based companies represent 26% of Canada’s aggregate market capitalization, the second largest representation of any jurisdiction in Canada;
- Oil and gas is by far the most significant industry in Alberta as 41 per cent of Alberta based public companies are engaged in oil & gas and represent 73 percent of the total market capital in Alberta.
- Of the companies based in the four largest provincial markets, Alberta based companies have the highest average market capital by a wide margin at $785 million.
