ASC Innovation in Finance (InnoFin) Team
The ASC InnoFin Team is a multi-divisional team that coordinates the ASC’s efforts in respect of both financial technology (fintech) innovation in the capital markets, and regulatory innovation that, while protecting investors, can improve access to capital for Alberta businesses.
Drawing on subject matter experts from across the organization as necessary, the InnoFin Team coordinates and leads each of the following:
- InnoFin Hub engaging with Alberta market participants
- InnoFin Lab working with Alberta market participants interested in testing and, where applicable, coordinating through the CSA Sandbox and otherwise with other securities regulators in Canada
- novel fintech and business models to be used in the capital markets and/or
- regulatory innovations that, while protecting investors, can enhance capital formation for Alberta business to develop the parameters for testing of the innovation.
- Monitoring of fintech developments in the capital market and conducting targeted research in relation to them to assist with relevant policy development
- ASC’s participation in the CSA Regulatory Sandbox.
- ASC’s participation in national and international fintech-related committees and working groups.
